How Does Diamond Mining Hurt The Environment?

While diamond mining is typically less harmful to the environment than other types of mining, it can still cause significant damage. Due to inadequate planning and regulation, diamond mining has wreaked havoc throughout parts of Canada, Africa and other parts of the world.

The biggest environmental issues associated with diamond mining are soil erosion, deforestation, loss of habitat for wildlife and in extreme cases has been known to cause entire ecosystems to collapse. The photo below is just one example of how diamond mining in Sierra Leon have destroyed the landscape. These abandoned mining pits are all that is left of what was once farmland. The water-filled craters are also now a public health hazard – when they fill with stagnant rainwater they become a breeding grounding for mosquitos and spread malaria and other water borne diseases.

Pure Grown Diamonds Are Eco-Friendly

Pure Grown Diamonds are identical to mined diamonds except they are grown in a lab and not in the ground. Pure Grown Diamond technology replicates the conditions necessary to grow a diamond crystal above the Earth's surface. A small diamond seed is placed in a tightly-controlled environment where the rough diamond grows, atom-by-atom, layer-by-layer, recreating the natural process. Like mined diamonds, grown diamonds emerge as rough. They are polished using the same equipment and techniques; producing the same brilliance, sparkle, fire and scintillation. The only difference is the diamond's origin.

Pure Grown Diamonds share the same physical, chemical and optical properties as their natural counterparts. Because these diamonds are grown in tightly controlled conditions they are almost entirely devoid of impurities. A colorless Pure Grown Diamond is classified as type IIa which is considered to be the purest form of diamond known to man. As an added bonus, Pure Grown Diamonds are 20-40% less but still have the exact same quality and brilliance that you would expect from a mined diamond.

Not only are Pure Grown Diamonds environmentally friendly, they are also conflict free. Pure Grown Diamonds are fully disclosed as lab-grown with a guaranteed origin. Full disclosure and commitment to transparency assure that our Pure Grown Diamonds are conflict-free.
